One Word 2021 Linkup—February
This is our February linkup for your One Word 2021.
Has your word stayed with you this month? Has God brought it to remembrance in unique ways? Have you been intentional in using it?

Use any of these 3 sensory challenges to keep your One Word fresh in your mind for the next month ahead:
1. SEE IT
Can you see your word anywhere around you? If you’ve created a vision board or made desktop wallpaper, good for you!
To Do:
If it’s nowhere else to be seen, at least write your One Word on a post-it note right now and stick it on your bathroom mirror. See it to remember it!
2. HEAR IT
Do you have a song or scripture that you’re using with your One Word this year? Have you listened to it lately or recited it to yourself?
To Do:
Record yourself reading your verse or quotes or poetry with your word on your phone, then listen back once a week. Put your song on your playlist and listen to it this week.
3. TOUCH IT
Is there a tangible way you can interact with your word?
To Do:
Find a way to use your body to connect with your word. Examples: For “Flexiblity,” do morning stretches to make a bodily connection. For “Connect,” think about your word when you’re sorting laundry. For “Receive,” give a hug to each person of your household when they come home for the day.

God continues to encourage my heart this year with the word PATIENCE. Every time I begin to feel y patience slipping away at times, God gives me encouragement from His Word. This past week, it was verses from Psalm 25. Lead me in Your truth and teach me, for You are the God of my salvation; for You, I wait all the day. Let integrity and uprightness protect me, for I wait for You.
I thank God for His inerrant Word. It continues to comfort my heart and give me joy.
What a faithful God we serve. I love that he continues to bring you a fresh bounty of patience at all the right times, Horace. I also appreciate how you are sharing your finds with others. It helps us discover more patience ourselves. We all need it, with ourselves and with each other.
As I continue on my path with the word “FEAR”I am finding I am loosing one meaning of the word by focusing on Isaiah 41:10 the preferred definition of fear. Definition of Fear: profound reverence and awe especially towards GOD!
I have an index card that I keep in my daily reading planner that I have written both the Scripture and the definition that I see each time I turn to the daily devotional reading and my Bible reading following Dr. Kimberly D. Moore’s book (The Bible in 52 Weeks a Yearlong Bible Study for Women)
I find during my Bible Study time fear comes up almost daily either in the Word, Study note or application. I am really tackling my fear each day and can see progress both in the negative and positive!
You have such practical and intentional ways to engage with your word, Denise. That’s great! I have my scripture (Proverbs 3:5-7) as my desktop wallpaper, but I think I’m going to have to move it around because I’ve gotten so used to seeing it that I glance over it now. 🙁 I like that you have yours on a card that you have to see and touch; I may need to do that too. How wonderful that you are seeing progress already! Hearing of your results blesses me too. Thanks for sharing!
My One Word for this year is “Hush”.
I have become aware that I frequently say things I don’t really mean “to be funny” and also seen to talk constantly. I wonder how much I am missing by talking mindlessly instead of listening. I chose James 1:19 for my verse and have it as wallpaper on my phone. Also, ordered a bracelet with my Word and the Bible verse on it and have been listening to Christian music that encourages listening for God to speak.
Your word makes me smile, Cindy. I love when people choose a word that no one else does. Hush would be a great word for all of us because we all have times when we need to just hush. It’s great that you’re so self-aware of why you wanted this word; that’s a step we often overlook but it makes such a difference. My friend gave me a bracelet a few years ago when my one word was Story. I loved having a tangible thing I could wear with my word. I’m sure you’ll love having your bracelet too. I’ll think of you now when I hear songs about listening for God! 🙂 Thanks for your update.

Actually one of the books I mentioned is free right now if you have Prime! The Sin of Certainty by Pete Enns. It’s not for everyone; he challenges our thinking. I don’t necessarily agree with everything he says, but I appreciate how he makes me think.

My one-word – abide – seems to have taken on a life of its own. By that I mean that it has made me so aware of how important it is to seek Jesus in my everyday life not just when things are going sideways. I am so grateful that He continues to pursue me.
I love when our words take on a life of their own, Barb. I’m glad to hear that “abide” is doing that for you. So apt for that word especially! 🙂 Jesus is so good to never leave us alone.

Lisa, I love your prompts for this month! I currently “see” my word in my decor with the word “JOY” in wooden blocks and on a plaque. I “hear” my word as I review and memorize Bible verses, but also my ears pick it up in conversations! Music! My sweet husband sent me Jonny Diaz’ song “Joy” one day as he’s always on the look out for “my word”…LOL. Physically interacting is a bit tricky, but I belly laughed when my 18 month granddaughter was over playing kitchen, & she ran to the microwave for food when she heard a beeper go off. Sadly it was only the washer! She fills me with joy, as her very name (Grace) reminds me of God’s blessings.
It has been a tough month of trials, but God is so very faithful and kind to gently pull me back to Himself, breathing the breath of joy back into my soul. Showing me no matter the trial, joy is still there too, because His Presence will never leave me.
Sorry I’m so late, Lisa. I’m finding more and more that GRACE is a Person – JESUS. And His daily graces toward us are so abundant if I open my heart to them. He is also by His grace helping me to give myself more grace, to be more gentle with myself and to rest more, both physically and spiritually. Love and blessings to you!
