If you think you can’t memorize . . .

As we get older, many of us think we can’t memorize as well as we used to. Maybe so. (Maybe not?)

But I know we can still memorize some. And the more we do it, the better we can stay at it (or at least slow down the losses?).

If you’d like to exercise your memory muscles this summer in a no-pressure way and for a cause more important than simply maintaining your memory—to stay more connected to Jesus; to better love those around you; to bear more fruit that lasts—sign up now to memorize John 15.

Learn more about how it works here.

We start next Monday, June 2. We go slow and don’t aim for word-for-word perfection. We just want to abide, to stay strong in our belief that God is Love. Memorizing scripture is one way to do that, but only one of many ways. (It’s not for everybody–do what works for you!)

Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me.
John 15:4

If you don’t want to memorize, but would still like to journal or pray through John 15 for a few months, you also can register to receive the every-other-week emails with the verses.

My sister and I memorized the book of James and now we are doing Philippians. It is the most rewarding endeavor ever. God’s Word hidden in a believer’s heart helps in our growth and sanctification too. As my husband always says, “When our freedoms are taken away and the Bible is illegal (like it is in so many countries) I hope my “cell mate” is one of those people who have memorized books of the Bible. 🙂

How cool that you and your sister memorize together. What great books to know deep down! When my daughters lived at home, we memorized together, and I got my husband to join us once for a John 1 challenge. But that’s about it. ha. So I love doing these challenges with Do Not Depart for some company.

I choose you for my prison cellmate! 🙂
